Cream Stew with Chinese Cabbage

No roux required! A warming stew thickened with rice flour.

Ingredients

  • Chinese cabbage・・・200g
  • Onion・・・100g
  • Carrot・・・70g
  • Lyophyllum shimeji・・・100g
  • Bacon・・・60g
  • Water・・・150cc
  • Milk・・・300cc
  • Rice flour・・・2 to 3 tablespoons
  • Butter・・・10g
  • Consomme・・・5g
  • Salt and Pepper・・・proper quantity

How to cook

  1. 1.Cut vegetables into bite-size pieces.
  2. 2.Heat butter in a pan and saute onion and bacon well.
  3. 3.When the onions turn transparent, add the other vegetables and saute.
  4. 4.When Chinese cabbage wilts, add water, cover and simmer slightly over low heat. (about 5 minutes)
  5. 5.Add milk and consommé.
  6. 6.When the milk is warm, add the rice flour little by little and cook, stirring constantly.
    Adjust the amount of rice flour according to the desired thickness.
  7. 7.When thickened, season with salt and pepper to taste.
